The North American QSO Party CW part was yesterday.

Was a lot of fun.

My first contest, even though I'm not really a contester.

Made more cw QSOs in a couple of hours than I normally make in a week or two.

Anyone else here participate?

Absolutely, a lot of fun. I also do the sweepstakes, ARRL DX, and CQWWDX, all in CW, and far and away the most enjoyable of all is the NAQP.

I did a little better than last year spreading my multipliers between bands, but still the activity and propogation heavily favor 80M from the East Coast in the winter.

I like the NAQP because the big guns aren't any bigger than me (100W), and in addition to the hunting and pouncing I do in all the contests I can also in the NAQP sit and run on a frequency until I get bored of it. If I try that in the big DX contests, it doesn't work. It kinda works in a sweepstakes but not all that well. But in the NAQP I don't feel like a little gun.

If you want a real skills challenge, try working the NA Sprints.

With an attic dipole and metal raingutters, I find that contests are a great way to get good geographic coverage.  Even running at low power, the Big Guns are running big antennas, and they can hear my tiny signal.

I was working at my usual 15 wpm, with aid from CWGet.

Most people slowed down for me -- thanks!
