LYQ Navigational Beacon coming in strong on 530 KHz.

Has the LYQ beacon in Tennessee on 529 kHz shut down?

I haven't heard it for some time. A longwave group post said LYQ was considering shutting down. And I've carefully listened for it the past two days.

The ham who owned it considered it to be more of a service to SWLs and hams from what I could understand. NDBs are pretty obsolete as aircraft navigation devices.

   I had forgotten about LYQ, I'll listen again for It. I think the AM BC was out of  Havana?

I'm pretty sure it's kaput. 

As a rare ham-owned/operated NDB, it was sorta interesting, especially with the nearby 630-meter ham allocation opening soon. LYQ amounted to a ham beacon that could be heard on any car radio over a good part of the country.

Perhaps the FCC decided that wasn't such a good thing.

I'm not hearing it anymore here in central Kentucky.  I haven't heard it since maybe back in January, so my guess is it's no longer on the air.
