I am looking for a low price dealer or anyone with new batteries for MIDLAND RADIO models 70-148a/ 70-248a/b ht's. I have several of these units for vhf and uhf in mint shape / new but all need new battery packs.
They work great on 2m and 440 ham bands. I have the near impossible to find original program cable that uses the parallel port on a pc to program and the even harder to find software for them. (RCP.exe)
I have programmed several and they are mil spec tough as bullets ht's with 99 ch capacity.
Try finding the software online, its nowhere.
Any ideas on a good cheap source for the battery packs, I know they are still made.

Probably the best approach is to disassemble the old packs and replace the
cells inside.  There are a number of battery companies that will do this for
you, or sell you the cells to do it yourself.

Hi Kevin,

try these guys, I've used them before, great service.

http://www.ww-manufacturing.com/

click on two way and you can search for the two packs,
nicd or nimh.

if you want to rebuild them yourself, take a
look at mouser.com for replacement cells.

here is a great yahoo group for midland LMR

If you google Midland 70-148, you will get a few vendors.
