Anyone notice that the spell checker is not working? When I try to use it it comes up with a blank page. This started a few weeks ago with a very slow page load and now it does not work at all. Is this a site problem,or a computer problem? Everythis else seems to work OK.

PS I just tried it on this page it loaded very slow but sort of worked

A spell checker is usually part of the software on the computer itself, or it comes with one of the program applications.  Check your computer.

He's talking about the eham spell check when posting. That is not part of the computer, it's an eham server function.

1) What OS and browser versions are you using?
2) Do you have any anti-virus program running?

Ah!  Since I don't use it--and wasn't aware that there was one--I apologize.  73!

Could you try to disable the Avast and attempt the spell checker?

I disabled the Avast Antivirus. The spell checker still does not work. I get a blank page when I try to use it. It did work a short time ago, and I have changed nothing in my computer since. Now I notice the preview loads very slowly or not at all. I am wondering if I need to delete cookies or something/ Any help would still be appreciated.

It's almost always a good idea to clear the cache/cookies regularly - especially when weird stuff starts to happen.

Better keep a dictionary handy because e-ham spell check misses quite a few mispelled words and a lot of times will finally find them only if you have gone back to spell check 3 or 4  times before actually posting.

Is there any way one can ADD words to the spell checker like the computer spell checker??  I get tired of "ignoring" simple words like "Google."
