Not having much luck with this! Just got this in a couple weeks ago. Have had it on the air now for a week, everything function wise works as it should or so I thought? Last night I went to program the memories I wanted in it. Entered my freq and modes then pressed memory in, all the sudden the 4 square digits and the infinite sign at the top section of the decibel scale lit up and also one leg of the memory channel lit up. But my memory's entered OK. Got out of the memory program (all done on panel, not in the menu option) went to change band and mode to USB but not only would the USB lit up but the LSB indicator would stay on. The LSB indicator now stays on no matter what mode your in! Rig only transmits in your selected mode. 100 watts output all bands, all modes working as they should. Decided to pull covers and check the memory battery and the possibility of a pinched cable, battery checks OK, recently replaced. No pinched wires! Put it all back together, turned rig on now the U in USB is lit up. Left it alone for the nite and now tonite I turned it on and now I have a leg lit up on the hertz side!!!! What the Heck putting it mildly!!! Have done both the A=B and A/B resets during all this and nothings getting any better!! Anyone anywhere have any ideas as to where or what to look for on this problem, Hoping it's something I can figure out before I send it in somewhere to be repaired?? I worked all over the bands for a week with a perfect display and no hickups, but like I said once I added some freq's to memory the display started falling apart! It's off now, afraid to turn it back on!!

If no help on the fix maybe someone can direct me to a repair shop worth dealing with? Have some inquiries out but no responces as of yet! would like to get it working as it's my only HF rig!

I suggest you pull the lithium battery (or turn it off) and restart the radio. I have seen this one time before but it was a very long time ago , I remember I changed the battery and it came to life...

Agreed, very likely a memory cell problem.

Replace the memory cell.

Thanks guys for the suggestion.
Took a look at it earlier this evening. Previous owner stated battery was replaced in 2012. Checks out fine with the volt meter. On a whim I decided to pull the display. Looks like it's needing replaced. Majority of display is black like it should be but I can clearly see the extra digits as plain as day on the display. If you look close under a bright light theres a liquid? seepage around those digits. So looks looks like a replacement display is in my future.

Thanks again all..

Hi Dr OM,

I have the same problem while looking in the light and it seems that the 3-rd,and 4-th digits with only some segments of the digits are lighting. If I open the tcvr these segments remain lighted all the time (showing digit 6 and 3),and you have to guess where you are in the frequency. The problem with the USB and LSB is similar to me here, but changing the battery did not solve it.
Battery replacing was not helping at all also for the other issue with digits.
Any idea from a experienced ham?
Tnx and 73 de Cristian

My Kenwood the ts430s display is out. Worked fine until I sprayed  with electrical board cleaner. Only lights I have working now is the power on light. Rit and notch work at times. Display free and bandits quit working. Does the battery have any affect on this problem.
Thank You in Advance.
