Yaesu FT-901dm Memory Module not working?..

I have just repaired a FT-901dm from 1978/79 vintage, but it would seem the memory function is not working?.
I can store the memory, but when I want to recall the memory by pressing MR / TX or RX the VFO still seems to remain active.
Could it be that the WRITE line to the BCD counter is permanently HIGH, thus storing and relaying the VFO frequency directly?.

I had an FT-107m where this function worked just fine--any ideas what the problem could be?.

Sounds pretty much like a backup battery problem.

Rigs of this vintage had memory batteries?..

With the rig on, (if it had a battery) the battery backup should not be a problem.
It is as if the VFO is permanently active.
Were these module an option on these rigs?.

My 1980 IC-1271 has one. But it seems the FT-901 is different.
There is a FT-901 Yahoo group which might have good information.

My 901DM from c. 1979 has the same problem. Began maybe 5 yrs ago.   It keeps blinking but no more single memory function.  I have an external vfo so dont really use  the single memory.  Still, it would be interesting to know the problem/repair needed.

Come to think of it, I tried the 902DM memory and get the same problem...blinks. Never acquires the freq.
