I just had to write this one today - since there is a new activation for Marion Island starting this Spring - which (IMHO) happens to be the biggest breaking news of the year - since ZS8 is #10 on the DX Publications "Most Wanted" list, and #14 on the Clublog most wanted (global list).

Interesting reading, but I find it hard to believe there were no activations between 1955 and 2004!  Certainly there must have been some other activity from Marion or Prince Edward during that time period.

Here's a couple more:

ZS8IR worked in Nov. 1996 (15m - CQWW CW) and again in Feb 1997 (40m - ARRL DX CW)
ZS8MI worked in Mar. 1990  (called in on 10m in WPX Phone contest!)

How many contacts did Pierre ZS8M make during his stay?  It seems odd that this entity would be ranked so high on the most wanted list given its frequent activations by resident hams.  I guess I'll find out the answer after my attempt to work ZS8D Shocked

It was in the thousands if I remember right, somewhere near 5,000 if I remember the "wrap up" that was posted somewhere.

These will be filled in today. I usually can find these pretty easily - for Marion Island its been a little bit trickier - which is kind of strange.

Lots of details come in after I post these blogs - from hams who worked the entity or who have artifacts worth adding to the blog. Some of the back stories I get from readers end up "making" the article.

Thanks - I will add these to the blog - and any others that I get!
