ATNO??
He is good in QRZ but the prefix does not show in my logger nor does Kosovo show on the prefix map.  Is he just too new to show or am I missing something?

The DX Marathon is not an ARRL sponsored event.
CQ contests and awards do count Kosovo. I always assume when someone says "ATNO" they are talking about DXCC.

Working Kosovo now is only good for "practice" as far as DXCC is concerned, but with the pressure that's on the ARRL to make this the 341st entity - who knows, maybe if and when it does become a new entity - the acceptance date will be retroactive to a "date of historical significance".

Meaning - maybe what you work today would count in the future.

Anyway - working a Z6 is good practice if you are bored and waiting for a real new ATNO to be activated. 2013 so far has no announcements of anything that I need.

Not even good for practice if you are on the east coast. Bored?  You nailed it!! Cry

For practice, yesterday, and ONLY for practice, I worked Senegal and Ascension Island. Both worked first calls. Both has sizeable piles, tho I wonder why............ Huh

Yeah, I can't believe all the fuss over ZK3. There were 2 guys there a couple years ago for about 4 weeks. But I guess if you didn't have it....It took me a while to work that one. And lately at times that has been the best DX on the bands.

Hi Rich,

Is there any example of this in current DXCC list?
Work now, count in the future?

Thanks,

Good practice like working (and receiving a QSL) Romeo as P5RS7 in North Korea?

I always assume when someone says "ATNO" they are talking about DXCC.

In the US especially, a fair assumption.

But, CQ's DXCC equivalent has been around a long time as has WAE (administered by the Germans).  Both admit several "entities", currently including Kosovo, that DXCC does not.

For some people, then, Kosovo is an ATNO.

It's all about how you decide to keep score.

Dragan,

I recall very well the 1st operation of 1A0KM. They were announcing that it would be a new country. With a call sign from an unassigned block from a building in Rome alot of people didn't believe it, and didn't bother working it. That operation went on to count later.

Meaning - maybe what you work today would count in the future.

Wow,

Are you saying that ARRL AFTER THE FACT actually accept a new DXCC counter that was activated BEFORE a callsign block (allocated, I think from ITU) was even assigned? That sounds like the kind of thing DXCC/ARRL would NOT do.
