Allow me to introduce you to the idea of Rapid Deployment Amateur Radio (= RaDAR):
http://radar-america.blogspot.com/2013/01/rapid-deployment-amateur-radio-rapid.htmlhttp://zs6bne.wordpress.com/category/radar/which is a concept for operating and rapidly re-deploying an amateur radio station anywhere, anytime. It does not and is not intended to compete with any other Amateur Radio group, although it does borrow elements from HFPack, SOTA, etc..
As rightfully noted in some of the emails I received, it's relevance to EmComm activities is obvious. If you want an opportunity to test your portable and mobile equipment in a fun way, then this contest may be for you.
Because RaDAR is not only a concept, it also has it's own Contest, which is centered on portable and especially mobile and pedestrian mobile Amateur Radio operation, with emphasis on rapid QTH changes.
http://radar-america.blogspot.com/Aim of the contest is not to award a certificate - although there'll be one. If you are interested in this contest which is aimed at promoting mobile and portable Amateur Radio, then you will notice that submitted logs with pictures and descriptions of the transceiver and antenna setup are to be posted on the RaDAR-America Blog, so that it may serve as a pictorial teaching repository on this most interesting facet of our hobby.
