I would like to transmit  the ARRL News .mp3 files over our 2 meter FM repeater for our weekly ARES net meeting.  I can transmit the files using HRD and the audio browser on both my FT-857D and my IC-756 Pro III radios in sideband mode, but not in FM.

Does anyone know how to transmit .mp3 files in FM on 2 meters?

Is this an audio, or PTT issue?  Are you setting the mode within HRD, or from the radio?

Feed the audio out of the PC spkr into the mic with the rig in FM mode....you cannot simply transmit a MP3 file over the air....without it decoded back to analog!
