Be shocked that, given all the resulting drama, finger-pointing, etc. that anyone would sign on with the group.  But understanding that it's the operators' choice, I would happily work them and patiently wait for the next one...

It took me all of January to go through "withdrawal". 2012 was really an amazing year of DX - in some ways the best I have had in the 11 1/2 years I have been in the game.

If you liked last year you would have loved 2001 when we had major DXpeditions to: PY0S, E3, 3B6, D6, YK and the Sptatleys, and smaller operations from ZD9, 5A, 9U, JD1M, TJ, VP8SG, 3D2R, H40, HK0M (2 of them), VK9C, 3Y0B, and YI.

One of my best years ever for ATNOs and I was already over the 250 total by that time.  I missed the YK, ZD9, and 3Y0B unfortunately.

5X, 9U and XT should hopefully give me some band and/or mode fills in the next couple of months.  Need all 3 on RTTY.

I started in July, 2001, so I do remember a few of those. E3 and 3Y0B (and K5K 9 months earlier) are one's I just missed by months  - (because I wasn't yet back on the air) - and so I still need those, and then I missed VP8THU and FT5GA later on - that I still need. FT5GA is probably the only one where I will probably have to wait another 10 years to get - hi hi.

Hope we don't have to wait that much longer for VP8SS but haven't heard of anyone going there anytime soon.

Hey, didn't Romeo and Don Miller activate this around the 1958 solar max?

Someday there just maybe a trip to Titan. The downside is we will all be Silent Keys by then.

The only possibility of an ATNO for me this year, with the expedition calendar as it presently stands, is one bloke who lives in monastery, who rarely gets on air, and doesn't seem very interested in DX-ing!
Let's hope for a few nice surprises this year, like Socotra I last year. When 7O6T activated last year, I was on dxpedition myself, and was worrying they'd QRT before I got home!
What's keeping me active is the CQ DX Marathon. The year has started out really well. The past few years, I decided to chase the Marathon late in the year. I'm also working on my QRP DXCC - on 75 now, so should make 100 before long. And pushing towards the 100 on Top Band. And working new band countries. And I plan to have a go at building a tx for 630m this coming winter, when HF usually goes quiet.
So, there's still plenty of interest in the hobby, despite little chance of ATNO.
73 and remember to have fun,
