You really need to use a UHF frequency to control the repeater. Control via the input frequency was never legal under FCC regulations.

It has been for some time now; as long as you can use AUX freqs. The prohibition of using the input freq was deleted from Part 97...Also AUX control (remote control) is legal on the 2m repeater subbands so you can control op a 2m rptr on its input.....but controlling a 10 or 6m rptr on its input is still not legal....
