I finally got my confirmation for #300 by working Razi, YI1RZ in Baghdad the other day on 20 meters. Considering I've only been back in the hobby a couple of years, and when I started I was at 125, I think I've done pretty well so far Smiley I know it's going to be a long road to get to the Honor Roll, but Lord willing, I may get there. If not, I'll still have fun trying!

Congrats on #300 John. That is sure an accomplishment!  I still need Iraq on 20, only have them worked and confirmed on 15.  Now the ATNOs start coming less often.  My #300 was Western Sahara back in 2002.  Only worked 20 new ones since then, but most of them were "created" new ones, like the 4 new PJs, Swains, Southern Sudan, St. Barts.

That's great news on an important accomplishment.  Iraq is a good catch from the West Coast.

I'm still too far from the magical 300 however I will get there sooner or later.  I have age on my side Grin

Congrats on # 300 !!!   Well Done !

I see thisa guy spotted quite often, but I have never been able to
hear him or any other station from Iraq.
Maybe one of these days.

Thailand from the ARRL Int'l DX contest was # 265 for me.
I doubt I'll live long enough to reach 300, but I
ain't quittin anytime soon.

Razi, YI1IRZ, is very active and he uploads to LoTW quickly.  I have exchanged Email with him and he was always very pleasant.

Congratulations on #300. That's quite a milestone.

Razi also gave me an ATNO.  We are blessed to have him in Iraq.

I've worked him several times on different modes. Most recently was this past Sunday at 2350, when I saw him spotted using JT65 on 30m. I was surprised because my 30m antenna is a wimpy wire vertical that was something of an afterthought, and lucky because I'd taken everything down for an antenna upgrade. It's taking longer than expected (of course) so I put the 30m and 40m wires back up Sunday morning so I'd have something in the air. Have you ever tried JT65? It can be amazing, allowing you to work stations you can't hear.

Congrats John. 300 is a challenging mark. Good luck with the next 40. I'm still looking for 301.  Grin

Yes,
I was looking for him last weekend on 30m JT-65
I never found him.
I kinda like JT-65, but it is so VERY SLOW !!!

I have bagged 2 ATNO with JT-65
New Caledonia and one of the old Russian "STANS"
Can't remember which one off hand.

Of course, when you WHINE about something,
LIFE makes you look like you have egg on your face.

I just saw Razi YI1RZ spotted on 20m JT-65.

YI1RZ  DXCC # 266 on 20m JT-65 !

Made my day.

Thanks guys for the encouragement and congrats. And I know what you mean about how difficult it is to work Iraq. I've seen Razi spotted several times but usually when I would tune in I would hear nothing except noise. But he was just strong enough this time on 20 meters to make the QSO. Now the next two I would like to work from the middle east would be Iran and Libya. Iran I see on once in awhile, but I don't think I've ever noticed a 5A on the cluster in the last couple of years.

Congrats on 300!  WELL DONE........ Now the fun really starts.
Waiting for a chance at an ATNO is really tougher then trying to break the pile, IMHO.

Congrats. As NU1O said, he's fast to confirm on LoTW. My latest just came in today, about 48 hours after the QSO.
