Just got back and saw the spots just now but no signal yet in Jennings Florida.  Thanks for the info!

Now the spot cluster is saying it's a pirate.  Callers beware.

I think it's a great idea and I hope that the conclave lasts long enough to thin out the pileups.  I still need 3A, 1A, HV to finish Europe.

Of course I plan on working SV2/A when The Intrepid Group announces their 2013 trip soon.   Cheesy

There's a rumor I haven't heard yet. Hmmm

Having Father Apollo confirmed, CW and SSB,  I hope its only a rumor.

I would like to see another of the top 20 activated. You know??  Something I need. hi hi

I have confirmed both HV4NAC and HV0A via LOTW. Qsl manager for these two stations is IK0FVC.

73 Dragan K0AP

My last 2 contacts with the Vatican were with HV0A. Dragan, did you get a LoTW confirmation automatically or did you contribute to OQRS. I don't think I made a donation but if it means a LoTW I will gladly contribute to pick up 2 bands.

It was fun and games this morning on 40 m.
HV0A spotted both on CW and SSB! A bit later the spots indicated the SSB station was in fact a SES in England.
I couldn't hear much of the alleged SSB station, but on 40 m the signal was a big strong 599.
Not only that, the operator put Europe on hold and called for DX, and even for VK/ZL!
There was someone sending "pirate pirate" on his frequency, but as you know, WFWL.
Contact was quite easily made, and I hoped for the best. He then worked some JA, then quit when the EU QRM continued.
I just now checked my LotW account, and there it is, HV0A confirmed at 2030 UT on 40 m CW!
So, rest assured the 40 m CW signal this morning around 2000-2030 UT was authentic. There seems to be quite a bit of activity from HV0A, as he was on last night on 17 m SSB, but too weak to work.
73 es GL to those who still need Vatican City.

Hi Luke,

I was among the early callers but couldn't get past the EU wall. Saw a spot later saying he was looking for VK ZL so came back to try my luck again. I heard him work VK7XX and then kept asking for VK/ZL. Later he went back to wkg JAs listening up 1. Every time i sent my call, i heard "PSE ONLY JA". I assume it was meant for the EU QRMers. A bit disappointed that he went QRT due to the QRM. But more surprised that he couldn't hear me; or ignored me and focused only on Japan? A new one went missing after trying for almost an hour. Hope he remains QRV until the Conclave lasts.

On a lighter note, came across this and enjoyed a good laugh - http://my.fakingnews.com/2013/03/12/god-celebrates-as-chuck-norris-is-voted-pope/   Grin

Well, I did it! Got an ATNO by contacting HV0A via 15 meter SSB around 1800Z today. HV0A had a strong signal into Northwest Florida.

White smoke is billowing from the Vatican so we have a new pope.  I hope HV0A stays on the air for a few more days.

HV0A is Franchesco, I have worked him before from the Vatican.
He is on 21.269/split up

It is AMAZING how many are calling him on TX freq and NOT listening
to UP.

I think a lot of people would like to get a QSL on the very day a new pope was elected. HV0A is adding a little fuel to the fire by often saying it is a "very special day", which it is.

I will send a donation so I can get an actual QSL card marking this date. I'm just glad I worked him before the white smoke went up.

Francesco had a huge signal and an equally huge pile-up
on 15M today...he just went QRT.

Two hours at the mic. and no joy from the Left Coast...hope they get on CW
tomorrow or later today.

Too much demand, too few operators..  Wink

I guess the white smoke came out of the HV0A transmitter, then?
