To put this announcement into perspective.  Wake is #15 on clublog and #21 on the DX Magazine's most wanted list.

From the announcement.  It looks like this might be a record-breaking dxpedition.

"They plan to operate five stations over a 14 day period, 160 to 6 meters on all modes"

Things are starting to look like a good year for DXpeds. I need KH9 on CW & RTTY.

It would be a new one for me. Very good news.

I'll take 12 meters for a $100.

FINALLY!!!   FANTASTIC NEWS!
And... another one that many (Including me Roll Eyes) of the group thought would not be activated.

Five stations for 2 weeks! Even my ol vertical should get at least One Q!

Actually, that was the one rare US-related entity that I thought would be the easiest of the lot, especially since there is/was a ham stationed there who got on quite regularly last fall (but whom I missed every time). Really looking forward to working them 10-160!

Me too!  I only have Wake confirmed on 20m SSB.  Would love a 6m QSO but am not holding my breath on that one.

Me???  No, I WISH I had that kind of power/pull with the right people. (And enough smarts to think up a reason for that entire deal, and then GET IT DONE!)

KUDOS to the team for just getting the IDEA of a GREAT reason for a well deserved commemoration to remember those people who lost their lives long ago. Having a radio team tag along is sure not a bad idea either Grin
In all honesty, I had never heard about these "forgotten" folks, killed during the war, who will be honored. Just an all around good deal.

Gene/AF3Y, a terrific comment to remember those who gave the ultimate sacrifice in defense of our freedom.  It's a chance to remind the yougsters these days, so that those brave Americans are never forgotten.

I have heard of that group. I think it was on one of the WW2 series on the Military Channel. (It should be required viewing for everybody before we forget the true cost of freedom.) We should never forget our servicemen and servicewomen - past and present.

In any case, I'm excited to get a chance at this one. I wish I had started my ham radio career a few years earlier when these islands were manned. Then again it wouldn't be so exciting now.

Good luck KH9 team!
