The compleat technician would thoroughly check for things like higher than normal Current draw, out of spec voltages, ripple and heating components after replacing a blown transformer. 

There should also be a reasonable "burn-in" period on a side bench, with an eye to all of the above as well, finding and replacing such components as mentioned above. 

Components such as certain electrolytics, other caps and resistors known to fail in large numbers should be replaced, of course.
