Just read this in a magazine, "Jay, W2IJ announces, “The activation of Banaba Island is set for November 2013."  It would be ATNO for me!

And me!  Hope this one flys.  Seems like Banaba tends to get scheduled and then postponed or canceled.

Yeah, I need 'em still on 6 bands. I suspect they'll make a lot of guys happy if they can in fact pull it off. Not quite a top-tenner, but I'll take this semi-elusive one to keep the interest level up that's for sure...especially if I can bag 'em on 80 and 160 Smiley

Even as a Left Coaster, that's still one of those few remaining ones I need in the Pacific for a ATNO. That was one of those islands that didn't exist when I was inactive from DX'ing and then when I came back a few years ago, "Banaba Island, what the heck is that??" Smiley

I also need them on 6 bands.  Last one I worked was T33C in '04

I was wondering when that would be activated.  I need about 5 islands in the Pacific and Banaba is one of them.

T33..well not an ATNO for me as I did pretty well
when T33C was QRV in 2004.

Some band fills would be nice but this one
isn't getting me any closer to the HR... Roll Eyes

ATNO for me. If they have signals like T32C life should be good!

I worked Toshi JA8BMK as T33ZZ in 2008, just when I was starting into this DX thing. Also worked him on T31 and T32. Wish now I'd looked for him on more bands.
I'm looking forward to a new one on 160 m in T33, also KH8 and KH9 coming up this year. Should be nice "easy" ones from the east coast here.

I told my wife: "A group of hams is going to Banaba soon.  I need Banaba."

She was in the other room, and misunderstood/misheard me.  She said "Why would hams talk to fruit?  Your hobby is so hard to understand"
