Had a thrill this morning that I thought I would share with all of you. worked VR2XMT and BD7IS on 10 mtrs on the long path with qrp power, they were both abt s-8 and I rcvd a 5 x 5 from the VR2 and a 5x7 from the BY7 stn. I've heard 10 mtr lp before, they just would never hear me, I will be cking this path alot more often now HI HI, 73 Dan WG5G.

Nice job!  I've worked both in the same day on 10M LP but there is no way to predict that opening. You just have to spend a lot of time on 10 meters.

I worked quite a few ZLs yesterday on the short path at about 2330Z even though the band sounded dead. Signals were very weak with deep QSB but at least they were workable. What time was your LP opening?

I saw your post on the cluster, fantastic especially for QRP.  I don't think that window of opportunity was open very long.  I worked all 3 of them also just to get some contacts tacked on my new call.

There is one pattern now that I think about it.  The 10M LP opening often stays open for several days at a time so try the next few days at the same time.

I take it this was a QSO on Saturday?  I'd also be interested in the time.

Saturday AM circa 1300-1400 UTC I had several "easy" JA contacts via long path in JIDX on 10M, VU on 12M, and on 15M I was hearing my own echoes and strong multipath echoes on several Africa stations.

I used the "serach" function and see the QSOs were on Sunday morning.  I keep forgetting the clock on Eham is Pacific time.  It doesn't appear they made it up into the New England area since I don't see any spots from my area.

Right now 10M is dead except for a few SA stations and there are just a few weak stations on 15. The solar numbers are relatively high so I'm thinking some kind of a geomagnetic storm.

BD7IS and Charlie, VR2XMT, are two very active stations so I'm not surprised those were the guys you worked.

Yes it was Sunday morning, the VR2 was at 1308z, and the BD7 was at 1327z, at 1500z I heard James, 9V1YC very loud lp on 12 mtrs, but he didnt hear me, in fact there was a small pile and he just kept calling cq picking up someone every few calls, oh well Im happy with the others. 73 Dan WG5G.

Hello Larry and John, tnx fer ur comments, a bonus here was that I needed both of those for the DX MARATHON, now if I can find a VU2 calling cq from zone 22 that would complete the 40 zones fer the contest, 73 Dan WG5G.

Maybe 8Q is easier for zone 22?

Interesting that you mention 8Q in this thread.  In the 2002 WPX Phone contest I worked 8Q7OA at 0345z on 10m LP, along with a half dozen YBs, 9K, UP0, and several UA9s.  Often the limiting factor in finding 10m LP openings is having a station at the other end.  Had there not been a major contest going on, perhaps none of these stations would have been QRV on 10m at that time.

Good afternoon, yes Larry looks like I'll have 2 chances at working 8Q7, hopfully Krish is reading this as I read where W4VKU and VU2PAI will be there in April, then Jim G3VDB is going back in May, I worked Jim back in 2011 when he was there, hope one of these operations can hear me short or long path, HI HI. Yes Mike I have heard long path on 10 mtrs before just was really surprised that they heard me. I had only 2 long path qsos on 15 mtrs, both with S21ZG back in the early 90's, the rest have been on old reliable 20 mtrs. John good luck tmw at 1300 z, Ill already be at work - damn this daylight savings time HI HI. 73 Dan WG5G.

Chris, I hope you're right about that.  I would like to think I could work EP3SMH sometime on 10 meters while enjoying my early am coffee.   He's been on 10 occasionally in the mornings here lately.  About an hour after the Far Eastern Asia signals disappeared Africa started booming into here on 10.
