JKA:  Very interesting.  These old guys and the incredible "libraries" they have in their heads are quickly fading away.  Any time we find these "old warriors" we should talk to them...pick their brains. 

They have a lot to say and the information that can provide beats the hell outta any book, any day!

I was also impressed with the "fist" of this 92 year old gentleman.

     You're so right,the sad fact is so many of these WW11 vets came home and never talked about their experiences(for various reasons I'm sure).My father was in the 10th Mountain Div. in Italy(Ski Troops) and never told us kids anything about his experiences and injury.It was not until I read the history of the division and was able to go to the Ft Carson,Co.memorial and to Monte Cassino in Italy to follow the training and order of battle that I could get what I consider only a half ass idea of what these guys went through.
