I have a D Star Simplex node at my home. Currently, I am using an analog radio with the interface board to connect the analog radio to the computer/internet.  I can access D Star from my truck (using a ICOM 2820) with ease, through out the county.   Can the  IC-7100 HF/VHF/UHF Transceiver be connected directly to the computer  without using the D Star interface board?  James Newton  KD8AJC@GMAIL.COM

To do it right you still need a GMSK modem inline on the data port.  Some guys have pulled out sound card only Dstar repeaters, but it can be flaky, nothing to loose to try though for sure.

MMDVM boards don't cost a lot and are a good option now.
