i have a ts 940s with automatic antenna tuner. when i run my amp my outboard swr meter reads high while the 940 swr meter read low. so is it better to turn off the 940's antenna tuner and use an outboard one between the amp and antenna/

First of all this is the Digital form...
Your external meater is reading the swr between your amp and your ant. When your push the tune button all the internal tuner is doing is maching your radio to your amp.
