For those that like this radio but have the display go out, do not give up until you talk to Matt at Icom Michigan. Icom says parts are not available, any one else I talked to either wouldn't attempt a repair, or had no faith that they would be succesfull if they tried to fix it. My display is now working great at a very reasonable price.

Not available? The parts are 2 capacitors. Less than $5 at Mouser. They are SMD and I replaced them myself. Fairly easy repair.

FWIW, I hated that radio because I just could not get used to that menu system. If it was software compatible to something like chirp, I would have kept it. And for whatever reason, they command huge money. I ended up selling mine for $350, which is more than I purchased it for.

I ended up getting an FT-8800 which is a superior rig, and much easy to navigate. And it did not cost that much more.
