Noob questions;

Is anyone using the InRAD #270 SSB filter with a Yaesu FT-857, and if so, how do you like it?

I assume when transmitting, you want to see a slight indication of ALC then reducing slightly so you're fully modulated, but not into compression?

I also assume the cleanest way to interface the radio is to use the CAT port on the back of the radio, and then use GND, Data IN, Data OUT, and then make a circuit on one of the computer's serial ports to operate the PTT?  Is there a better way?

I've been getting interested in this mode, and I finally purchase the software.  Now it's time to hook things up.
