I got an old Sommerkamp FT-221. With the remark that the PLL unit does not behave. and it certainly does not.
I looked for a service manual, but I get the Yeasu Ft-221 issue. Most things are the same, but the PLL unit is substantionally different. The Sommerkamp look older as a concept.
The print number on the Sommerkamp PLL print is PB-1455A. The print has more parts than later versions. You can recognise it by 8 canned MF like trafo's.
Does anyone has a servicemanual specific for the Sommerkamp version, or a print-layout / partslist of this PLL unit?

Erik -

You may desire to contact Earl Andrews, VE3AB
He works on Yaesu transceivers of this era, and has some Hard to Find parts.

With the FT221 and FT301 (very similar type of circuitry) and it looks the same as well.
I have had a problem with crystals that stop oscillating.
Sometimes you can touch up the associated trimmer capacitor and the oscillator will start again.
Or do like I did with the FT221, remove the crystal with heat, then resolder.

Either the heat might perk up the crystal or perhaps it is a cold solder joint.
I have done several repairs now on FT301s that have had bad solder joints.
You would think that after 30 years that any of these bugs would have long
since reared their ugly heads, but they seem to continue to crop up every now and again! -Earl

Thanks! I'll do that.
