From DX World:  http://dx-world.net/2013/mellish-reef-2014/

Yet another yawner for yours truly, but I can use bandfills. I worked George and Tomi on Mellish in 2009.

I am hoping some of these yawners coincide with expeditions that I do need, to help take the heat off and make it a "little" easier for me to grab an ATNO or two.  Cool

GL to all who need this semi-rare entity.

No such thing as a "yawner" here.  Any DX is good DX!

There is a very well done set of videos on YouTube about the VK9ML Mellish Reef DXpedition in 2002.

I worked the reef back in 1972 (VK9JW) for the first time. It was a big deal then, especially for me, a new DXer.

I, too, worked George and Tomi a few times but I could use it on 10, 12, 15, 17 and 80 (and 160) as well as RTTY so it will be quite welcomed here. Lowbands are unlikely, but I know I can pick up 10-17 pretty easily.

Great news. I could use just one contact on any band Smiley

For the yawners, I'm sure there will be exciting announcements for you all coming soon!

If they are on 160M - then it will be very exciting for me.

2014 is starting to shape up nicely for DXpeditions.  Don't need it for an ATNO (VK9ML did a nice job in 2002) but could use it on 80, 40, 30, 17, and RTTY.  6m would be great as well and not totally out of the question.

This time even I can call this one a bit of a "yawn" for me!
George and Tomi did a very good activation from this one, right in the backyard .
But it was before I had the beam up and decent high band conditions.  This could make some band fills for 17, 12 and 10 m, and of course, a nice Marathon point.
2014 is indeed shaping up to being a good one for some high order activations. This year has yet to impress.
The only thing of interest on air now is the coverage of Le Tour de France!

Yes, another amazing race, far from the routine 'flat sprint' expected! I need to stay up till 1:30 am here to see the finish, a bit like summer time DX-ing,
I am, of course, looking forward to the Mellish activation. It's quite close, only a couple of thousand miles.
73 es GL!
