You may be sick of hearing this but the if it ain't broke comments are dead on. If you are hell-bent replace the driver tube first. That is often times the problem and does not require neutralizing. The Yahoo groups is also a very good suggestion. Here is another website that is invaluable  http://www.k4eaa.com/

                  Hi, F.Y.I. The 12by7a driver tubes can be substituted with 7054/8077s Motorola in a pinch.. I have a
