Interesting and tempting!
I was going to get an FT-60R, but succumbed to price temptation when a used Icom IC-V80 Sport came up for sale on QRZ.com for $80 shipped. ('Sport' = shipped with a AA battery case only, and the price is reduced by $50.) But this battery case doesn't have a way to charge the batts. externally; the cells have to be removed and charged, then replaced into the case.
So, I gave up convenience and 70cm band for $80 worth of savings.
I may just buckle down and buy the Li-Io pack/charger for it, but that's another $80, at which point I'll have more into this radio than I would in the FT-60R new.
