I will be moving to the Newport Rhode Island area next JULY of 2014. I am looking for a club or clubs that are active on HF with an existing HF station....or a club that would like to establish an active HF station. I have plenty of gear....just not a place to operate when I get there. Old fashioned HF SSB and CW are my main interests. Antenna projects are fun too. Any info you may have at this point would be helpful. Thank you.

I live about 50 miles from Newport on the MA side of the border.  The Naval Station must have a club in its premises.

Also I found the following:

Ocean State Amateur Radio Group
OSARG / K1OS
PO Box 8238
Cranston, RI 02920-0238

Web site:
www.osarg.org
n1vdf@arrl.net

I tried the website but it seems to be kaput.  Would not hurt sending an e-mail.

73 and good luck DE Bert, KA2UUP

There is a club in Newport, they meet in Middletown which is the next town over.  the website is:  www.W1SYE.org.

They don't have a clubhouse but they do have a station set up in the Red Cross Center in Middletown.

Good luck and 73!

The Newport Radio CLub has two HF stations set up and is the biggest by membership club in the state as of this time.  W1LY is the president.  Just Google W1SEY and you can sign up.  THe club meets once a month and does Field Day and other activities.

That's W1SYE, not SEY.
