Typical!  The biggest contest of the year, and here in London we've all had to take down our antennas due to The Big Storm approaching from the Atlantic!

Sorry to hear that Jon but you are probably not alone.
We at PI4DX are also monitoring the weather forcasts closely.
If and when the winds get to strong, we too need to at least lower our antennas.

This morning we had to considerably lower our antenna's because of the strong winds in our area. Fortunately for us the brunt of the storm will hit us tomorrow when the contest is over.
Still, lowering the yagi's by approximately 40 feet does hamper your signal.
But hey, we are still on air!

I also had to miss most of the contest due to Hurricane Cindy. Did I tell you that my XYL's name was Cindy?

People say northern Europe/UK never has this type of WX, just not true. While stationed in UK (RAF Alconbury) 50 + years ago was hit by Hurricane force winds. We ground crew erks spent 36 hours "flying" our Bomber type aircraft on ground to prevent damage to airframe. Worked !
