Successfully used CQPWIN 12.5 for the most recent CQP and was very happy with its operation. Afterward noticed a newer 12.6 version on the NCCC/CQP website which I downloaded and installed. It immediately wrecked Windows (XP Professional SP 3). After some anguish and time consuming effort was able to recover (reformatted my machine and started from scratch - data was backed up so nothing lost) Out of curiosity, the very first app I loaded, mainly to prove something, was CQPWIN 12.6 and yes it destroyed Windows again! After another reformat and two days of updating and restoring I'm back in operation. Went back to CQPWIN 12.5 and everything seems okay.

The error encountered when Windows and various .exe programs (lsass, userinit, Explorer, taskmgr) tried to run was this -

(fill in the blank).exe - Entry Point Not Found
The procedure entry point strcat_s could not be located in the dynamic link library msvcrt.dll.

Was able to log on but that was it. Screen was empty except for my normal Windows wallpaper. None of the System/Windows recovery or fix methods worked. Suspect problem was related to 12.6 finding and updating older outdated system files which it warned about during the install.

Any thoughts or experiences of your own one way or the other with 12.6?
