Greetings:
I would like to buy the Idiompress Logikey k-5 keyer and it says to not use it with a cathode keyed rig without an isolating transformer. Can  I use the IC-706  as is with the K-5?
Thanks in advance

the 706 is solid state. Grid or cathode keying refers to tube rigs. any modern keyer will work with a 706 - but it has a built in keyer, why don't you just use paddles and the internal keyer ? Read the manual on it!

I want the K-5 keyer because it has a lot of memories you can use. I had a stroke 5 months ago and could really use  for instance calling cq in a loop etc.I have read that manual many times in the last ten years. Thanks for the help.

In tube rigs cathode keying can have high voltage at the key.  Do a search on cathode keying.

Anyway, the 706 is not a tube rig so you'll probably be fine.  If you have any doubt, drop an email to the vendor of the keyer.

Just plug into the CW Key jack on the back of the 706.  1/4 inch 3 conductor.

The 706 is Bipolar keyed...you must have Lithium to use it.
