Well its not only hams improving their IMD act.
Codan the Australian company has released a 12 volt digital HF radio with a claimed IMD performance of -40db below PEP 3rd order.
This is a SDR radio. While ham companies and hams whine about how hard it is to achieve this level of IMD performance the commercial
sector just goes ahead and achieves these numbers for better HF performance.

IMD with predistortion for ANAN200 (Orion?) at
https://apache-labs.com/al-news/1015/ANAN-200D-Preorders-commence.html

IMD3 is about -40db but then it decays very slowly, 45/50/55/60 for IMD 5/7/9/11.

In not too bad radios, IMD7 is < 60db.

That pdf brochure picture they have is confusing me. It appears to show IMD for both 500mW and 200W, but is that with or without pre-distortion? The 100W PEP IMD3 looks only about -40dB to my eyeball, but the specifications text says -50db IMD3 with "Puresignal" enabled.

Maybe the picture shows the IMD without pre-distortion?

The ANAN-200D (Orion) is almost identical to the ANAN-100D (Angelia).  Same transmitter and 100 watt PA/Filter board and housing.  The Orion board contains the same receiver and transmitter design found in the ANAN-100/D, so performance should be identical to the earlier models.  The ANAN-200D has software settable mic jumpers, and 10mhz oscillator options plus an improved 10mhz oscillator.  It also includes a larger FPGA.

The 500mw transmitters in Hermes, Angelia and Orion are identical and will have the same IMD performance which is typically better on lower power amplifiers.  The IMD seen with the 100 watt PA for the ANAN-200D should be the same as seen in the ANAN-100/D since they share the same transmitter and PA/Filter board.  IMD3 approximately 30 dbc without PureSignal Predistortion running and 45-55 dbc with PureSignal running.
