Everyone knows the Route 66 special event, but is there a similar New York City to San Francisco Lincoln Highway special event  with host stations along the route? If not, is there enough interest to start an annual special event? The original Lincoln Highway just passed its centennial in 2013. Individual state chapters of the Lincoln Highway Association would be great resources and perhaps partners for an amateur radio special event.

A couple of years back, 2009 there was a transcontinental motor convoy with old military vehicles.  See http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Transcontinental_Motor_Convoy.
