I had to replace my old truck and I got a 2005 Ford Escape with a sunroof.  I would like to install a Larson 270 dual band and a Little Tarheel II antenna.  I have no problems with drilling holes, but the sunroof and luggage rack is a concern.  I have been doing some research and somebody recommended a hood seam mount. Is that the "L" shaped mount that screws into the groove of the trunk (or hood) and has an open hole for the antenna mount? What exactly is that? Any suggestions or idea's?

Sorry, I made a mistake on the other thread.

I used to have a 2005 Escape and ran a Comet dual band V/U antenna on one side and an HF antenna on the other. I used Diamond K400-3/8 mount for the HF antenna and a Diamond K400S for the dual bander. These were mounted along the vertical edge of the rear hatch door and worked great. No problems holding either antenna and the HF antenna was homebrew and about 10 feet tall. of which the top 4 1/2 feet was just a whip. Again no issues for the several years I used it. Pictured below are the mounts I used an a link to some mounting ideas.

I have a 2008 Escape and I also use that same mount on the back left side of mine. Never had an issue with it and have been able to match it 1:1. Works Very well. Now looking at solutions for HF though this may be a bit more tricky to do.

Take a look at my last car, I used it on the trunk seam, but you get the idea:

And my Jeep, custom bracket, but the concept is the same:

It works well, fits in the garage.
