I don't seem to be able to set the output power on mu FT-817.
The book says....
Press the "F" key then rotate the dial to bring up Function Row 9 (pwr mtr).
Then press "A" as needed to set the power you want.

Problem is.....
I don't seem to be able to get to Row 9 by pressing the F key and rotating the dial.

Help me out.....

Try tapping F key once, then rotating the SEL knob (to the left of the screen). Not the MAIN Dial. That should get you to the several menu selections on the screen.

Ok,
That tap on the F button did the trick. A regular 1 seconds push on the F is too much.
Thanks....You fixed it.
I guess the owner's manual is just wrong.
I am able to set the power at a "blank" position, then a single "L", then a "Ll" then "Lll" then Llll.
So I set it to "Llll" that's supposed to be 2.5 watts.

The book says 5 watts is a blinking "Llll".
I can't get the "Llll" symbol to blink.

Any ideas on this part of the problem?

Hi
LII is the 2.5 watt setting. LIII is the 5 watt setting if you are
running from internal battery pack ie  9.6 volts it will blink.
If you are running with external power supply it won't.
Hope this helps.

just some clarification to the above.  It took me a bit to figure this out coming from my 857.

On batteries:
LI: .5W
LII: 1W
LIII: 2.5 W
LIII blinking:  5W

On External power:
LI: .5W
LII: 1W
LIII: 2.5W
No Icon: 5W

Thanks
