There's also been the odd 9M2 station and 9V1YC.  Also several V8 stations on lately.  Much JT activity as well.

It's peak sunspots, so it's time to go after that stuff.  Here in Arizona, all that stuff is (I admit) easier or at least marginally so.  In Minnesota, China was really rare, but not so rare here.

That said, any time after 2200Z and especially after 2300Z in major contests, these stations are around to be found and often do not have major pileups.  Probably because the West Coast worked them the previous contest day or because the Big Guns are on 20 trying to get more multipliers there than on 10.

Some of them hunt-and-pounce, so if you hold a frequency on 10m, they sometimes come to you.  Conditions are great, use them while you have them.

Funny thing about the 9M6 station. I heard him working a US station and was hoping I would work him next, but the frequency belonged to the US guy. Needless to say, I figured I was screwed.

On a whim, I decided to move up the band and do what I almost NEVER do during contests; call CQ.

I did the same thing a couple of years ago in the RTTY WPX contest to get VP8NO on 15m RTTY. It worked right away.  With 100 watts and a dipole, I don't run stations much either except in the Oklahoma QSO party (this weekend!) or while I am mobile on the county hunters net.

It's a nice trick when it works.  Used it many times.

...had DXSummit on the computer and saw the posting.

Well then it does not count! Ask anyone who had to walk uphill both ways to an FCC Field Office through a blinding snowstorm in the middle of July to take their 20 WPM code test and they will tell you that the only DX that counts is when you accidentally stumble upon it by accident without the help of spotting clusters!

Oh yeah, CONGRATULATIONS! And now the hard part... getting the confirmation!

BG2AUE confirmed via LotW sometime last night.

Has anyone received a QSL from BG2AUE? Tried email but no response.  He seems pretty active. Maybe the post is just very slow to China?

I have BY confirmed on 80m but I'm still looking for my first 160m BY contact.  With all of the noises they have I can't believe they could hear anything on 160m.  Nice job!

I know how you feel about China. I just worked my first Viet Nam yesterday and my QSL from Monaco arrived today. It's a great hobby!!
