After chasing someone/anyone from China for YEARS and seldom
hearing zone 24, I finally worked a station on 10cw from BY !

I have been working the BARTG RTTY contest and had DXSummit
on the computer and saw the posting.

I know, you are thinking BIG WHOOP Huh
And, I didn't find it by myself....

For me, it IS a BIG WHOOP !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

China is a hard nut for my wire antenna too. But once I worked it I felt the same way you did. Congrats!

Well then it does not count! Ask anyone who had to walk uphill both ways to an FCC Field Office through a blinding snowstorm in the middle of July to take their 20 WPM code test and they will tell you that the only DX that counts is when you accidentally stumble upon it by accident without the help of spotting clusters!

Oh yeah, CONGRATULATIONS! And now the hard part... getting the confirmation!

Great prop on the high bands to China and Asia. BG2AUE and BG3UPA were both 599 tonight on 10. ZL7 was audible but had a pretty big pileup.

After six years and all SSB I have not even heard China. I have heard Korea once and worked Japan about 30 times. Over the weekend I worked Russian stations near China more than 20 times.

There's a big international contest in 2 weeks. Maybe I will get lucky then.

Awesome! I know the feeling, I got my first BY only a couple of years ago. I too worked my first BY on 10CW this week, what a great feeling!!

Perfect timing for St. Patty's Day. Have a green beer!

I have heard it said, that when it rains...It pours !

OK,
another ATNO tonight.

9M6XRO in East Malaysia was working the BARTG.
Got him first call.
And got Champ, E21YDP in Thailand on 10m RTTY. (First digi to Thailand)

Add DU3, the Phillipines for the first time in several years.

It was a good weekend.

I think I will pour 2 fingers of Jim Beam to cap the evening.

I would have LOVED to claim a "Hat Trick" tonight
but that is wishing too much.

Iran was on 10 or 15m RTTY today, he was not working the BARTG,
but I could not break the pile-Up.

First time I have actually HEARD Iran.

Congrats on zone 24!  My first couple of Chinas were in zone 23. Had to work Republic of China (BV7FF) to finally get zone 24. Like most things, once I got that one, zone 24 got much easier. Now have it on 40m from both BV and BY, and just got zone 24 confirmed on 17m on Friday.

What he said!  The only think is my lone Chinese qso is in Zone 23.  Still need the elusive Zone 24...But China is a big country.....Was a relief to get it in the CQ WW last fall.....still waiting for the qsl card...... Grin Grin Grin Grin Grin Grin.....

Bill, ur just kicking ass and taking names..... Shocked Shocked Shocked Shocked Shocked Shocked Shocked Shocked......I e-mailed 9M6XRO to get his op sked, but when last listening for him, I didn't hear a peep.....had I known he was on, I would have made the effort to listen for him.....unless of course he was working digital, which I don't have......Did get 9M2MRS back in January...(scratch n' clawed for him)....so getting to that part of the world is exciting, especially from here.....Well done....

Don't know if this qualifies as a "Hat Trick", but...

16-Mar-2014 22:36:35   21085.1  RTTY  DV1JM
16-Mar-2014 22:58:07   21087.5  RTTY  9M6XRO
17-Mar-2014 01:02:41   21082.7  RTTY  BA1PK

Funny thing about the 9M6 station. I heard him working a US station and was hoping I would work him next, but the frequency belonged to the US guy. Needless to say, I figured I was screwed.

On a whim, I decided to move up the band and do what I almost NEVER do during contests; call CQ. Since I'm always running 100 watts, I'm usually doing S&P. The only times I've tried running a frequency were during the DE QSO Party.

It probably took about 10-15 minutes of calling, but the 9M6 found me and actually heard me.

Both the BY and DU stations were barely copyable here in DE and it took several repeats, but I'm quite happy with the results.

Congrats!

BG2AUE who uses 100w to a spiderbeam
and BA1PK who uses 100w to an R8 vertical.

9M6XRO confirmed by LotW sometime last night/today.

Sure wish the Chineese station used LotW.
I have to look the call up on the LotW site,
but I somehow doubt he is a user.

EDIT:
Just checked, BG2AUE IS a LotW user.
Last upload March 15-2014
It should show up on his/her next upload.
