I am starting to get interested in SWLing again after a long absence from all radio.  First, I currently have several Realistic receivers, DX-75, DX-150, 160,200 and a 302 (on a trapped dipole in my attic) and a Sangean 803A. I live in New England near Boston.

I picked up Radio New Zealand this morning and looking at the schedule it showed it transmits in something called DRM?

I don't see any DRM receivers out there, I do see PLL receivers, are they basically the same thing?

Secondly the small Radio Shack Dx 390 (?) that I had died and I was looking for a small but good radio to have by my desk and in the backyard and was looking at the Tecsun PL-660 and the PL-880. Does anyone have experience with these and what are your impressions with them?  I really don't want to spend much more over $100 as I am not sure if I will keep the bug.

DRM....Digital Radio Mondiale

Not much DRM in the USA.

http://www.drm.org/

Both of the Tecsun radios can be found on Yahoo Groups.

So it doesn't sound like DRM is that important. I do enjoy listening to the Radio NZ broadcasts to the Pacific, sort of takes me there.

I will check out the Yahoo groups. will start another topic with my next question.
