My Windows7 MixW3 installation would not recognize the updated help files that I manually copied into the MixW program folder per the MixW instructions. The files did work if I opened them manually from the folder. I found that MixW had placed copies of all the help files into a hidden folder c:\users\*username*\AppData\Roaming\MixW\ during installation and it was using those files during program operation. The solution was to activate "show hidden files & folders" in Windows Explorer so that the hidden folder was displayed. Then I copied the updated help files into the previously hidden folder.

I think that the Win7 Roaming folder is intended to hold things like program configuration files so that each user can maintain his own personal configuration. It doesn't seem like a good place to hold help files that would be the same for all users but that is apparently an error in the way the MixW installation is configured.

I expect the same issue will occur with Vista and Windows8. Perhaps this info can save others some time and confusion. By the way, a search of the c:\ drive for *.chm will list all the help files including those in hidden folders.
