.313 is kinda like the local bar you go to when ya wana drink to much and make an a_ _ out of yourself, but dont want any of your friends know yer there.  If ya listen close, it sounds like just like the establishment i just mentioned.

Hello.

14.313 is where Karol Madera, aka VE7KFM aka Radio Canada lives.
I have talked to him, he is off his rocker, but, he is in Canada.
At one point IC made an issue about him, and he got thousands of names on a petition.
He refused the support of the Westboro Baptist Church, about the only moral thing he has ever done.
But, like the WBC, he hates the US military.
He hates the idea that the US invaded Iraq and said the only reason the US went in is due to GW, and they would never find any WMD.
Well, Canada was on a roll against him.
Except, after they suspended his license, it turns out he was right.
So, he gets his license back and no one dares go after him.
But, he lives on 14.313.
He does not move.
It is like 27.185 MHz, you know what it is and where to find it.

FCC has issued warnings to a couple of the ops on 14.313

Hello.

The 3rd one, unauthorized use of a repeater, super easy to deal with that.
Go on simplex on the repeater output.
Do cross band repeat and have a talkie.
It will drive the repeater owner nuts!
But, the FCC can not do anything about Karol Madera.
And, to make this clear, I am not saying to go out and create problems for repeater owners.
What I am saying is that if the people are breaking FCC rules, report them, do not get upset if they are using the repeater in an unexpected manner.
I had problems when I would speak Arabic on the radio.
Some hams got upset.
This is now on 390 MHz and is a part of the Defense Language Institute.
But, some hams were not happy with anything but English.
Karol Madera is hard to deal with sometimes, but he has a willing audience.
Think if people stopped talking to him this would stop?
And, the problems we had have been solved by encryption, not allowed in the ham bands.
Again, follow the rules.

Looks like the FCC has been monitoring 14,313 after all!  According to the post on the ARRL website today, several have have been issued "warning letters."  Perhaps some will be issued the "Purple Shaft" after these warnings.

The nonsense on there is really sad.  Doubt the Feds will ever do much if anything.  Warning letters don't really get their attention, most have been down that road before and nothing changed.  I think Riley summed it up to paraphrase, just turn the dial.  Don't get drawn into it and let them be.  Good advice.  The idiot in Canada has serious mental problems, a legend in his own mind.  Then again, there are a few in there about like him, legends.  I choose to leave them alone to their antics....

Yeah, I think the FCC has been very emboldened in recent history.  Just about every month, they're nailing some loser, and he ends up pleading for mercy because his fine is so high.  Can't pay the fine, then how about some jail?  No sympathy....this is one area I'm really happy about what the FCC's doing.

I spoke with a highly placed ARRL staffer at Dayton about the current emphasis items at the League.  I'm thinking BPL, spectrum protection, usual stuff.  No, it was... "The biggest thing right now is enforcement.  We're working with OOs as well as the FCC to get the bad apples caught and prosecuted.  I can't tell you how much damage even a few of them cause for the whole service."  I went away thinking....wow, right on!

Hello.

Enforcement? Yes!
We can not do anything about Karol Madera, he is in Canada.
But, a lot of people complain about Mexico, yet you never hear a Mexican ham acting this way.
Hams throughout the world judge the USA by what they hear.
Karol Madera gets frustrated when talking to me, I do not "give in".
I do not jam him, or argue. any of that.
I treat him like I would a frustrated child.
Think he "keeps it up" when I am on the air? of course not!
The guy who kept talking to "Cowboy", first off, who was this cowboy, about as generic a handle as they come, and why?
Was this guy going to go out and find this cowboy?
Amateur Radio is a hobby, nothing more.
We do not have any special mandate from the FCC, or god, or anyone else.
Karol Madera gets frustrated with me, I do not jam, I do not argue, I give my callsign, in short, I am nice.
Karol Madera does not know how do deal with that.
Now, if everyone acted the same way, think Karol Madera would continue?
Ever seen well behaved kids and kids that have temper tantrums?
The kids who have temper tantrums do because parents give in, and the kids get what they want.

PIU,

Do whatever you want, but I don't think I'd give that guy even one moment of the life God gave me.

Like Joe Walsh titled his live album back in the 70s...."You Can't Argue With a Sick Mind."

I think I'm with Riley on this one.....spin that dial.  Also, like Billy Graham always preached...."Someone once asked me what the greatest mystery of life was, and I answered "the brevity of it.""

Man, don't spend another moment on 14313.

MHO, best,
Brad, K9MHZ

The problem isn't just Madera, it those here in the United States, that are causing the problem. It seems the FCC is going now finally going after those people. People who aren't IDing, and interfering. These radio "trolls" need to be taken care of. Perhaps the FCC will continue to clean up the band.

Cool.  Grin Grin  I have noted that 7255, which used to be the "lid freq" for the West Coast, has been awful quiet lately. Also, the "Okie" jammer I talked about in another thread, the guy who would blow nets out of the water with twangy country music, doesn't seem to be around anymore. I don't think that the FCC has the power to jail people, but they CAN order confiscation of rigs and permanent license revocation.

Why the constant negative reference to CB?  I have never quite understood that, for many an amateur radio op came out of the ranks of CB.

Try tuning around 27.0 to 27.300 AM - around CB channel 6 or around channel 38. There are a bunch of guys out in Georgia swamps that run multi-killowatt CB stations using SSB. I have this visual of an alcoholic smoker sitting in his underwear in a basement, the wife left him long ago, surrounded by dirty dishes and full ashtrays yelling into a mic and ending every long sentence with 'come bayk?'.

It's bloody awful.
