I bought an FT857D online, however when it arrived, the headunit and radio base are both stamped FT-857. I don't have a power supply yet so I can't confirm, easiest way I've read online is to see if it will do 60m band or not. I emailed Yaesu to see if they can tell by the serial number, but no response yet if I even get one. Does anyone have a confirmed FT857D model to see if its actually stamped D at the end anywhere, or did Yaesu just decide to save a few pennies a unit and not print the D on the units.

Thanks all!

Hooked it up to my jump pack... I can't seem to access the 60m channels, as described by the manual... so I'm guessing this is NOT a D version?

Sounds like it's not a "D."

The FT-857D (I have one) is labeled "FT-857" on the top, no D marking, so you can't tell that way.

However the D comes standard with the DSP-2 unit and the TCXO-9 unit factory installed.  You can easily tell if they're there or not by removing the covers and simply looking to see if they are.

The location of the DSP-2 is clearly shown on p. 119 of the manual.  The location of the TCXO-9 is clearly shwon on p. 121 of the manual.
