PIU:  Your explanation makes perfect sense.  What doesn't make sense is why someone would reach for ANYTHING other than what the officer wants and then only after telling the officer that "my drivers license and registration is in ........."  (Pick one.)

The points made about wanna-be cop or doctor can be dangerous and needs special handling.

The point of reaching for an HT while being pulled over is done only by an idiot.

Before you key that transmitter, be sure you aren't really holding your pistol.  Nothing like shooting your mouth off!  Wink

LOL.... good one.... reminds of the cartoon of a wife in the bathroom with her hair all wet and asking her husband for the hair dryer and he's handing her a revolver!

"Gun Control" is using both hands.   Grin   HT control only needs one hand.

So glad I live in a country where I can put my hand in my pocket to take something out of it without fear of being shot by the Police or "thrown to the ground in case I have a gun".

I don't think you lot realise just how ridiculous your country looks to the rest of the world in this respect.

England has had its share of gun happy cops.
England has this "Firearms Squad".
They were brought over here a while back for the visit by the "Royals".
I do PR, fire breathing, dancing with machetes, trick shooting, etc.
They all had tasers.
They have red lasers and call it "Red doting".
I pointed out how stupid that is, and showed them my pistol, pointing out that it is not "less than lethal and by pointing this red dot, they could get shot.
They put the tasers away.
But, yes, I totally agree, the culture is different.
In England, one can get a gun, but with effort.
In the US (Texas), I can walk into any gun store and walk out with my purchase in 15 minutes.
But, if you were to wind up visiting Texas, and were not aware of this, and reached into your pocket with the police there, there might be a problem.
The reason for this is.
http://bondarms.com/
http://northamericanarms.com/
As you can see, the things are the size of a smartphone, or modern talkie.
I have the needed permit, and can run out and buy one, not that a permit is needed, it just makes buying faster.
But, yes, at times I have to wonder?
The violent crime rate however, is all but nonexistent.
Gangs roaming the streets?
Not here!
Muggings just do not happen.
So, you take the good with the bad.
But, now that you understand that things are a little different, you can plan accordingly.
And that is the whole point, awareness.
I am not advocating the carrying of guns, but some do here.
Thank you.

PIU:  Don't forget the horror stories of the poor UK citizens who are languishing in prison for defending themselves with ANY force.  Or those who have suffered beatings and repeated robberies with little recourse other than standing and waiting for it to end.

Oh yes, we now have many more British cops packing!  And let's not forget the portions of some English cities that are controlled by the Muslims and English citizens are afraid to visit.

Nothing upsets me more than a constrained society telling US that we're the laughing stock of the rest of the world.....who is also constrained.

And it's especially upsetting to have a Brit say this when I vividly recall them pleading with American sportsmen to send rifles, ammunition and binoculars to them as they patrolled their shores with pitchforks, shovels and rakes in anticipation of Hitler's imminent invasion!

Thanks to this barbaric nation, the UK is still speaking the King's English instead of German!

What a laugh!!

I don't think the rest of the world realizes just how ridiculous they appear to a lot of Americans with respect to their views on firearms ownership.
As far as police brutality, I'm absolutely sure the USA doesn't have a corner on the market with regards to that.

May gun (357 mag) is just like my American Express Card, "Dont leave home without it"
When I go out and my wife and child are with me here in Dallas, I always have my gun with me. There are to many crazy nuts out there not to have one. It like suicide without one around here.

Maybe we'll send Obama over there so he can apologize for us.  Knowing how you all love him so much, it should make your day.  I'm sure the Nobel Prize committee will be having orgasms just thinking about it.

Being lectured about looking ridiculous from a Socialist Eurotard.....good grief.

This is the reason I always wear my orange 'Emergency Communications Officer' vest, my ARES hat, and my police style ARES badge. My car is clearly marked with 'Emergency Vehicle' and ARES magnetic stickers, sporting an $1100. Gall's lightbar.
Always be ready to clearly identify yourself as an "emergency first responder'.  By doing these simple things it will help eliminate any 'misunderstandings' with your local LEOs.

Thx

No misunderstanding, the officer is about to choke to keep from rolling on the ground laughing.

Hello.

This is as a reminder, people have been killed trying to reach for (Usually) their phone.
I saw a guy get thrown on the ground for what cops thought "might" be a weapon, a VX-3r with a stubby antenna.
I see more of this in Texas. where concealed guns are legal, and the cops are not happy.
But, remember that a talkie may just look like a talkie to you, but cops freak out easy.
So, be careful.
Thank you.

Concealed carry is now legal in all 50 states, not just Texas.  And the cops are generally fine with legal concealed carry, in fact most cops fully support it.

What cops have never liked are idiots making furtive movements regardless of if the state allowed concealed carry or not.  Try to get a concealed carry permit in NYC -- go ahead.  Yet that is where Amadou Diallo was shot and killed while reaching for his wallet.
