Grant (KZ1W) and I are happy to announce our TX7G DXpedition to Nuku Hiva in the Marquesas Islands (OC-027). Details at http://TX7G.com/

We'll be on the air 8 days October 18-26 including the CQ WW DX SSB contest. High power to vertical antennas right on the beach. We're currently open to sponsorships and are hoping to add an experienced CW operator to the team soon.

Marquesas is #71 on the Club Log list (#47 for Europe). We will focus on low bands and on optimizing propagation to give many an opportunity to get Marquesas in their log books.

We hope to hear you on the air from Marquesas in October.

Yet another ATNO possibility for me. (There something to be said for only having 235 total worked)  Grin

EDIT: Hmmm, I worked TX7M and TX5A but they are not showing up in Clublog. (Invalid Claimed DXCC)  I need to fix my log when I get home.

Oh well, I donated anyway. Grin

I worked and confirmed TX7M as well. Is there a place to check if ARRL approved it for DXCC?

Marquesas is another on of those overworked "OverDXed" locations.  Checking my log, I have no less than 16 QSOs confirmed. Seems like the question should not be "Who has not worked Marquesas?", but "Who has not had an expedition to Marquesas?" Shocked

Guess Ill go back to the beach Shocked (or sleep Roll Eyes)

For one reason or another I only have Marquesas on 20m phone.  I'm looking forward to the dxpedition.  I made a small donation to help them out.  You just never know where they might go next Smiley  Consider 50% of my donation is for Marquesas and 50% is a deposit for their next gig Wink

Gene, Marquesas is an easy path from your QTH, so it's reasonable that you'd have worked it a lot in the decades you've been active. But it's very much wanted elsewhere and by DXers that haven't been on the air for ages. I've received e-mails from three folks that have over 300 confirmed (one's at 332) that still need FO/m. There have been 3 small operations there since TX7M was there in 2011.

Thanks Jonathan, Eric, and others for your donations.

PLEASE!  Make sure you do get on CW.  SSB only operation on the low bands from OC under these miserable propagation conditions (and getting worse by October) is a grim prospect.  Good luck guys and well be on the lookout for an ATNO here.

That is the plan! We're hoping to get an experienced CW operator on the team - if you or someone you know wants to work the world from an island paradise, please let me know. We plan to devote nearly equal treatment to CW, SSB, and RTTY from two station, at least until the SSB contest starts, then we'll likely be all SSB until the end of the operation.

Decades? Ages?  Man, you are making me feel older than I am. hi.  Only been chasing DX since 2006, so, not quite as long as you think. Worked FO/DJ7RJ & FO/OH1RX in 2008, TX5SPM in 2009 and of course, TX7M in 2011.
Ill get the metal detector out and see if I can find another tin can in the back yard (dig you up a little donation........)

Since 2006 is several times longer than I've been at it. Wink I hope we have as much luck as you've had with previous Marquesas operations.

We're not sure how much of an impact it will be (probably not a lot), but there is some significant terrain between our beach-front location and VK-land. The 2nd picture at http://tx7g.com/marquesas is pointing almost directly toward VK. We'll take time to call exclusively for VK/ZL. Despite the terrain, our location is pretty much the only one on the North shore from which we can operate to get optimal paths to the majority of the world.
