FT-897D/PSK Interface Help Needed

Has anyone interfaced a FT-857D on PSK31, using a SignaLink SL-1+ and the Data port (WinPSKse, not a CAT interface)?

I'm pretty sure I have menu/setup issues. It receives and prints just fine, but get either a solid carrier or "key clicks" on XMIT, depending on mode selection (DIG or USB).

Not 100% for sure about your situation, but basic checks:

(1) Check all pin outs to make sure they are correct.
(2) Sound Card modes are usually done USB or LSB.
(3) Check any internal jumpers (if there are any).
(4) Check keying transistors.
(5) Check keying polarity.
(6) Check software settings.

Thanks for the reply, Jim. I know that on the 990 where this setup was previously installed, I went into the mic connector and setup was as you say, USB.

When I set the 857 to USB and key the radio with WinPSKse, I get a solid carrier tone ... no data. I either must have something else set incorrectly, or you can't drive this radio through the data port with the TNC I'm using ... my guess. :-)

It's working!! It was the software. The version of WinPSKse would only put out a carrier. I switched to MixW and it works just fine.
Radio settings:
Mode: DIG
Menu 038: PSK31-U
SL-1+: PTT, MIC-IN, GND
857D Data port: PTT, DATA-IN, GND
73, Dennis

Also, give Ham Radio Deluxe a try. It's a great,
comprehensive program.

It has a digital program, Digital Master 780
which is very good: PSK31, RTTY, Olivia,
CW (both regular keying and 'modulated SSB')

I just built an interface for CAT+DATA for my
FT-897D too. Runs great.

Thanks, Mike ... I'm really liking MixW right now, as it has all the modes I use plus links to eQSL ... pretty cool. I'm not sure if HRD does the latter, but it looks to be a full-service program, for sure.
