KAM w/Enhancement board - NEED Firmware for V8.2

I have an old KAM with the enhancement board that has version 7 firmware installed. I would like to use the KAM as a digi but I need the latest version of firmware, V8.2.
I spoke to Kantronics about this and have read about a gadzillion threads, but I am coming up empty on most leads or perspective leads have dried up.
When speaking to Kantronics, they told me that the V8.2 software is NOT the same on the KPC3 (as was suggested on some threads I've read) nor was it the same as the V8.2 that runs on the KAM Plus. Therefore, I need the V8.2 that runs on the KAM with the enhancement board and NOT the Kam Plus unit.
If anyone knows someone with a KAM with the enhancement board that may have this V8.2 running on it, I sure would like to speak to that person and perhaps borrow the chip so the software could be copied and then I can burn my own eprom. I spoke to Kantronics and they tell me that they simply don't have the software any longer, but if I could find someone with the chip, I could copy the software for my own use.
Please help folks.
Thanks,
Rick

If you find this please let me know. I have the same issue, with the same unit.
Thanks

No luck yet. It seems that no one that has it is reading this thread or may be reluctant to help out a fellow ham in need. If I do happen to find this, you can bet I'll pass it on so more folks can play APRS with their Kam w/enhancement board.

I have been told by Kantronics that the version I need is 8.2 to run APRS. At this point, I would try anything, but on the other hand, I wouldn't want to waste your time by asking you to send me the .bin file for V8 knowing what Kantronics has stated.
Surely there must me someone out there with V8.2 for the Kam w/enhancement board.....
Please folks, any help would be greatly appreciated.

Take a look at a series of emails between N9IVQ and the CEO of Kantronics concerning the original KAM and firmware.

Thanks for the information, but like you, I have already met this barrier, thus the reason I am seeking it (V8.2E) here on this forum. Someone out there has this code running on a KAM. Sure which I could meet that individual. Hams can help other hams who are in need. I sure hope that concept is still alive in the amateur radio community.
Please folks, if you're running Kam Ver. 8.2E, drop me a note!

Its my opinion that you are expecting too much by posting your particular need here. You have one particular model of old KAM, with the enhancement board, and with one particular version of firmware, and you are asking on this particular ham forum, hoping that someone who owns the exact same thing you have will see your post. Please don't complain of the lack of help being offered by your fellow hams. It is more likely that no one with your particular needs has read your post.
I just purchased a KAM-Plus for $40.00 here from the EHam classified sections. While that low price is rather a rarity, I would suggest you look for an enhanced or newer model TNC rather than just the Firmware you need. Hopefully you will have better luck getting what you need this way... ..

The fun of this sport is to build stuff with whatever means we have available to us. Yes, I could buy my way out of this in a heartbeat, but if I did that, I would never learn anything about extracting .bin files from an eprom, or building my own eprom burner from a kit or figuring out what makes all those funny looking electronics that are soldered to a circuit board, work together. My goal here is not to just get the software, but to learn about eproms and the "handling" of the code on eprom. Call it a phase I'm going through as we all do in amateur radio. If can make a device work and also learn something, I can then share that knowledge with others and hopefully pass on something to someone to help them.
I'm sorry if you view this request of mine in any other light, but that's all I am trying to achieve at this point. I already have a couple of APRS devices so if my goal was to simply get on the air with APRS, I would not have made this request to the forum.
Thank you for your feedback, Ed! Merry Christmas.

Never meant my comment in a negative fashion, but didn't want you to get your hopes up too much. I've done some brief digging, too, and it doesn't look good for a source for you.
I even emailed Kantronics asking about their current philosophy on hams copying their copyrighted, but out dated, software. I feel that if they don't care to support it anymore, at least they could do is to publicly permit hams to freely provide copies of their old software legally. Of course, I'm sure they'd rather sell new products instead.
So far, haven't heard back from them.
