Digitraveler External Antenna Reply

I have a Radio Shack Digitraveler GPS and would like to fit an external antenna to it. Not having a schematic, I am not sure where to hook up to. I was going to use a mag mount antenna like the ones used for XM radio.

Bob, I've used the digitravelers for years. I mod them to send power up the data cable and I can stick the whole GPS up on the roof. I've velcroed it to my scooter and mag mounted it to my car. I haven't tried a cable longer than the stock one, but if you need to mount it far away from your computer, you can probably use a longer cable to the gps instead of an external antenna for it.

I,m good on cable length. The whole APRS set up in going into the truck cap on my pick up. Wanted to be able to mount an antenna on the roof. Although it seems to work fine duct taped to the underside of the fiberglass top.
It all may be a moot point seeing how we lost the Digipeater up north here. May have to scrap the whole idea till someone (maybe me) puts a new Digi on the air in the area.
