TH-D7A and UI-VIEW Reply
by WW5AA on April 10, 2009 Mail this to a friend!
I have been helping folks for awhile with using the TH-D7A and UI-VIEW32. I thought I might clear up any confusion with this post. First of all the HT manual is a little confusing when it states that the TH-D7 can not be used as a digipeater. With the radio in the packet mode (not BCN APRS) and UI-VIEW32 on a laptop it works very well as a digipeater and Igate. Rather than the radio gps port, the gps should be plugged into the laptop. My laptop is WIFI capable and I actually use my mobile as a digi and Igate when needed. With UI-VIEW32 the text messages can also go to 128 characters. Now if Kenwood would only come out with the next generation HT!

I think Kenwood is correct. The D7 does not have the ability to be used as a digipeater, by itself. By adding the comnputer to handle the 'smarts' you have assembled a Digipeater using you D7 as the transciever. It does work very well, I might add.

I am however interested in some of you settings. I have had mixed results with mine. I keep changing stuff and can never remember what settings I used last time.

Thanks..
