APRS add-on for radios w/o APRS - survey Reply
by SQNEWTON on May 6, 2009 Mail this to a friend!
Hello all,

I am working on a prototype of an APRS add-on for radios that don't have APRS capability. This add-on differs from existing APRS (such as TinyTrak, Mic-E, Pic-E, etc.) in following ways:

- embedded good quality GPS
- automatic switch to APRS frequency to send packet and then automatic switch back to original frequency (Kenwood, others)
- user programmable, non-volatile parameters (location, call ID, etc.) via USB port and any serial terminal program
- compact size
- add-on connects between the microphone and the radio
- other desirable features ??

I would appreciate any feedback from you about these features and other desirable features. I posted a one-minute survey at

http://www.surveymonkey.com/s.aspx?sm=j4DWa8RecYj8LA1p_2f82byQ_3d_3d

It will help me get a better idea of your real requirements and validate a concept. You can also send me an email to sqnewton at hotmail dot com if you prefer so. Thanks in advance for your feedback!! Santiago

I want to clarify that the GPS is a receiver module only, without display
