UI-View32 and KPC9612+ Blues. Looking for FW v9.1 Reply

Hi All,

Don't yell at me for asking please. Its bad enough that I paid all this money for the stupid thing and I can't get it to work. If anyone has a bin file I can get for v9.1 I can burn it. I will even send you a burned eprom copy if someone send me the file if you like.

Thanks all. I should have purchased a TinyTracker.

Mike :(

Since the bins for the Kantronics and other TNCs are copyrighted material, good luck. Do you have a bad EPROM, or is something else wrong?

I understand that they are. It does have v9.1 eprom in it. When I power it on I get gibberish on my term window like it has the wrong baud rate. I tried my buddies eprom v7.0 in it and it works fine but not on APRS. They want stupid money to sell me a new prom. The one I have is 2 years old and no longer in warranty. There tech supports are not very friendly. They try to make it sound like the user did something wrong. I will never buy another Kan again.

So basically I am just looking for a image for the eprom I already have so I can fix it.

I should have made a backup copy of the thing to begin with.

Mike

Just bet ya if you bounce your problem off the guys at the kantronics/Yahoo group somebody can dig up a .bin file for you.. Shame on whats been happening with the company as of late...They used to be great with support. Now it's like they just don't care.
Good luck.

Did you try resetting the TNC with the jumper? It sounds as if you are either in Kiss or Hostmode, or perhaps the serial link is running at a different rate than you expect.

Also, as a general rule, the first thing I do when facing a "funky" TNC (especially ones that have been around for a while) is to replace the "coin" battery with a fresh one. I keep a couple of them on the bench!

Yup I did all that. Its the EPROM. I looked at it with the programmer and the data in the prom is all messed up. Oh Well. I will take it to the range and blast a hole in it. One less Kan off the street.

I'm all done with it.
