UI-ODBC position format Reply
by SM4XAS on September 22, 2009 Mail this to a friend!
Hello!

In our radio club we have a small project. We want to put a webpage that prints some cars on a map. We have tried this before, and then UI-view exports a new copy of the map every 30 seconds and FTPs this to a webserver. Then a web-page updates every 1 minute and reloads the image.

This time we want to reduce the amount data, so that the map doesn't have to reload every minute. We want to update ONLY the position of the cars, and not the map itself.

I have a plan to make this work with some layers on the webpage. One layer with the map, and then one layer for each car.

But now to the problem: APRS position formats.

Currently we are using UI-View to receive APRS-signals, and using UI-ODBC addon to put this data in a MySQL database. This part works fine.

The problem is that we get positions in a format we cannot decode. This is how the position is presented in the database: LAT: 3672.02, LON: 1002.52.
This should be somewhere around LAT 60.483, LON 15.428..(WGS84 decimal)

I want to understand this position format and how to use this in calculation.

Maybe someone have used this before?
